Nandi to Markandeya
Legend also reveals that while Nandikeswara was extrolling the greatness of this sthala to sage Markandeya, he explained that while all others sthalas can be deemed to be Body, this Arunachala is the Face with Lord siva as its eyes. He also told that the fame of this stala is unfathomable.
Glory of this Place
- Legends declare that those who pronounce the name of this sthala - Om Arunachaleshwarya Namah - once, Secure the bliss of repeating three crores of time the pancakshara (the Mantra of Five Words - Om Namah Shivay)) and
- those who visited and worshipped in this stala, They along with their descendents upto 21 generations will get liberation.

Yoga Master's record breaking achievement
Handstand walking down the hill steps with official setup to make a record by Mr.P. Neerathilingam (Yoga Master - Pathanjali Yoga centre) of Rajapalaiyam, Tamilnadu state, India. It was done on 14.4.2002 in Thiruvannamalai temple steps at Srivilliputtur taluk, Virudhunagar district, Tamilnadu, INDIA. It took the Brave man less than 1 minute and 25 seconds to Hand walk down the 204 hill steps.
